Boulder's Largest Living Indoor Christmas Tree
Delivery and Decorating Occur After Thanksgiving
Each year, the Hotel Boulderado plays host to Boulder's largest living indoor Christmas tree.
The tradition of a lobby Christmas tree dates back to the hotel's first year of operation, 1909,
although its size and material have varied through the years.
Beginning in 1988 the Boulderado began the oversized tree tradition,
and trees since then have varied from twenty-five to twenty-eight feet tall.
The size of the tree makes delivery and decorating a challenging process which takes several days.
This year, the tree will be delivered during the week after Thanksgiving
and will be ready for viewing in time for Downtown Boulder's Parade of Lights on Saturday, December 3rd.
Native Nursery in Denver provides us with our Christmas tree each year,
and the trees from the last few years have all come from the same farm near Taos, New Mexico.
The Hotel Boulderado is running a contest this year while the tree is featured in the lobby. Everyone who takes a photo of or with the Boulderado Christmas Tree is invited
to share the photo on the hotel's Facebook wall.
Everyone who does so will be entered into a drawing to be held on December 26th. The drawing winner will receive a complimentary overnight stay at the Hotel Boulderado.
Did You Know?
Did you know that last year's tree was so large it accidentally poked a stained-glass ceiling panel
when first hoisted? It had to be taken down and trimmed before it went up again.
Did you know that company holday parties with a 40 guest minimum are eligible to
host their event on our Mezzanine with a prime view of the Christmas tree?
Did you know that our Christmas Day Buffet is the only seasonal buffet served on our Mezzanine,
where guests enjoy the tree and festive decor while they dine?

in 2008 to see how the tree is brought into the hotel.
