Exhibitions Reception: Friday, October 7, 5:00-7:00pm
Celebration! A History of the Visual Arts in Boulder (HOVAB) is an unprecedented, community-wide cultural event that will revisit and celebrate the City of Boulder's dynamic and diverse visual arts past. HOVAB presents three exhibitions at the Dairy Arts Center's galleries as part of this event: HOVAB @ The Dairy Arts Center, Criss-Cross Collective, & Front Range Women in the Visual Arts Founders.
The HOVAB @ The Dairy Arts Center exhibition, guest curated by Sally Elliott, presents a survey of work created by twenty-three artists who lived and worked in Boulder at some point in their careers, including university faculty, members of art groups, and individuals.
The Criss-Cross Collective exhibition, guest curated by Clark Richert, will survey the works of artists who formed a part of Boulder's Criss-Cross Collective, a 1970s artist's cooperative which promoted "synergetic" interaction and valued "pattern and structure" in their work.
The Front Range Women in the Visual Arts Founders exhibition, guest curated by Fran Metzger, presents the art of those in Boulder who worked to remove gender-based barriers and create opportunities for women artists.
There will be a series of panel events held in conjunction with these exhibitions on Wednesdays in October and November beginning at 6:30pm. More information will be posted here when available.
We respectfully suggest a donation of $5 per person when you visit our galleries.
